The Gunners are the Premier League's hot side, winning their last six games to move above North London rivals Tottenham and into third in the table, and they have their sights set on winning seven in a row for the first time since 2007.

Finishing third would mean automatic qualification for the UEFA Champions League next season, a far cry from Arsenal's early form when they languished near the bottom of the table after just two wins in the opening two months of the season.

Key to that success have been the performances of Robin van Perise, who has emerged as the most lethal marksman in the division.

The Dutchman has netted 26 times in the league this season, and the visitors will have to keep the Gunners captain quiet if they hope to come away with a positive result.

Villa have triumphed just once in their last six games, with that victory coming courtesy of a 90th-minute winner from Andreas Weimann against Fulham.

But the Midlands side have a good record at the Emirates having taken more points at the ground than any other visiting side. Villa have won two and lost just one of their five Premier League visits to the Emirates after going 12 without a win at Highbury.

Goals have been hard to come by this season for the Villans, who have netted the fifth fewest times of any top flight team.

They have scored just twice in their last four games and with Darren Bent out for the rest of the season, Villa are in desperate need of someone to fill the void.
