Midfielder Mark Kerr (ankle) is pushing for a return but defender Kevin Rutkiewicz (ankle) may fall just short.
Andy Kirk and Kyle Hutton have recovered from illness but Paul Burns is struggling with the same problem.
St Mirren defender David Barron is out injured, but Jeroen Tesselaar could start, Paul McGowan is back from suspension and Dougie Imrie returns.
Dunfermline striker Andy Kirk: "A new manager has come in and he has different demands and it is up to us to try and meet them.
"He demands a lot of the players and will give a lot back to the players as well.
"It was sad at the time when the old manager got sacked. I don't think there was anybody in the changing room that disliked Jim McIntyre, but that's football.
"We have a new manager in now and we have to give him everything we have for him and the club.
"A win on Saturday would be the icing on the cake and maybe give us the boost that we need to kick on."
St Mirren manager Danny Lennon: "I felt the sacking of Jimmy McIntyre was premature.
"He has served the club very well, winning the First Division, and with so many points to play for he could have kept them safe in the SPL, which would have been another great achievement.
"On the other hand, I'm delighted to see Jim Jefferies coming back in. He brings a wealth of experience and a warrior spirit.
"He's an old fox, he has a great track record but it's maybe a bit of unfamiliar territory, fighting relegation with a new club.
"He'll need time to get used to his players and time is something he has not got much of at this moment.
"But players often react when a new management team comes in and we must be ready for that challenge."
