and that's why I opt for the bella Bologna before catching the train to Milan airport.. however is Bologna suppose to be colder? We are visiting in January 2010 will that be a problem? We come from a sunny place and I hate the cold!!

We like: sightseeing, bit of shopping, historical sites, walking, just soaking up the lovely atmosphere of a new place. Grazie :)Milan is big (since you mentioned Spain, you could compare it with Barcelona -- with no sea,of course) and while it is mainly a business and insutrial city, it does have a character and its charms, albeit admittedly well hidden. You can easily entertain yourself here for a couple of days without getting bored, more if you have the time for quick daytrips to nearby areas (this would depend on your interests).
As for Bologna, I have to admit that I am kind of (negatively) biased -- I have always been wondering what people find interesting about it. To me, it is a city you can see in an hour or two.
